What is Ciprofloxacin?

Ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic medicine that belongs to the fluoroquinolone class. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections in the body. Ciprofloxacin is used to kill or stop the growth of bacteria that cause infections. It works by blocking bacterial enzymes (DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV) needed for DNA replication — this stops bacteria from multiplying and helps cure the infection.

  • Respiratory infections (like bronchitis, pneumonia)
