what is Dolonex?

Dolonex is a pain relief medicine containing Piroxicam, a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID). It helps reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation in conditions like arthritis, muscle pain, back pain, and joint stiffness. It works by blocking prostaglandins, the chemicals that cause pain and inflammation. Available as tablets, gel, and injection, it provides both oral and topical relief. Common side effects: acidity, stomach pain, nausea, or dizziness. Avoid in ulcer, kidney, or heart patients without doctor advice.

Uses / Indications

Uses of Dolonex (Piroxicam):

    • Relieves joint pain and stiffness in arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis)

    • Reduces muscle pain and body aches

    • Treats back pain and neck pain

    • Provides relief from post-surgical pain and inflammation

    • Helps in dental pain (toothache, after dental procedures)

    • Eases menstrual pain (period cramps)

    • Reduces swelling and pain from sports injuries (sprains, strains)

    • Used for general pain relief where inflammation is present

Dosage

    • Adults (Tablets / DT):

      • Usually 20 mg once daily, or 10 mg twice daily after food.

      • Dose may vary depending on the condition and doctor’s advice.

    • Dolonex Injection:

      • 20 mg intramuscularly once daily for short-term use (usually 1–2 days), then switched to oral tablets if needed.

    • Dolonex Gel:

      • Apply a thin layer over the affected area 2–3 times a day; do not apply on cuts or open wounds.

    ⚠️ Important Notes:

    • Always take Dolonex after meals to avoid stomach irritation.

    • Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

    • Avoid alcohol while using this medicine.

    • Use under medical supervision, especially if you have stomach, kidney, or heart problems.

     
     

Precautions

  •  Stay hydrated and monitor for signs of stomach pain or dark stools — report immediately if they occur.
