What is Follicular Unit Extraction ?

FUE is a modern and popular hair transplant technique where individual hair follicles are extracted directly from the donor area using a micro-punch tool. These follicles are then transplanted into the recipient area. Unlike FUT, this method does not leave a linear scar, making it ideal for patients who prefer short hairstyles. Recovery is faster, and results look natural. However, the procedure can take longer and is generally more expensive than FUT. FUE is currently one of the most sought-after techniques worldwide.

Procedure

Shaving the donor area – The donor site (back or sides of the scalp) is trimmed short. Follicle extraction – A micro-punch tool (0.6–1 mm) is used to carefully remove individual follicular units. Recipient site preparation – Tiny incisions are created in the balding areas at the right depth, angle, and direction. Implantation – The extracted grafts are placed into the prepared sites to ensure natural growth patterns.

BENEFIT

No Linear Scar – Only small dot-like scars that fade over time, making it great for people who prefer short haircuts. Faster Recovery – Healing usually takes 5–7 days compared to FUT’s longer recovery. Natural Results – Hair grows in the natural angle and direction, blending seamlessly.
