What is Diclofenac?

Diclofenac is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and swelling caused by various conditions. It is commonly prescribed for arthritis, muscle pain, back pain, dental pain, and injuries.

Composition

Active Ingredient: Diclofenac Sodium or Diclofenac Potassium

Uses

Diclofenac is used for:
Joint pain (Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis)
Back pain and muscle pain
Toothache and post-dental surgery pain
Menstrual pain (Dysmenorrhea)
Sprains, sports injuries, and inflammation
Post-operative pain (after surgery)

Dosage

 

  • Tablet (Adults): 50–100 mg two or three times daily

  • Injection: 75 mg intramuscularly once or twice daily (in hospital/doctor supervision)

  • Topical Gel: Apply 2–4 g gently to affected area 2–4 times daily

  • Maximum dose: 150 mg/day (oral)

Side Effects

Common:
