What is Losartan?

Losartan is a medicine used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) and to protect the heart and kidneys from damage caused by diabetes or hypertension. It belongs to a class of drugs called Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs).

Uses

Losartan is used for:

Precautions

  •  Don’t take if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding

  •  Avoid combining with potassium supplements or salt substitutes (may raise potassium levels)

  • Check with your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease

  •  Avoid alcohol; it may increase dizziness

Common Side Effects

  • Dizziness or light-headedness

  • Fatigue or weakness

  • Low blood pressure (especially after the first dose)

  • Increased potassium levels

  • Rarely: Kidney issues or allergic reactions
